Learn to Drive with Confidence

Course length varies depending on the student’s attendance.

• The 30-hour classroom portion is designed to be completed in 10 days (3 hours per day).
• The 6-hour in-car training is completed over 3 days, with 2 hours per appointment.

You have up to 18 months to complete the course. If you do not finish the program within this time frame your enrollment remains active if the tuition is paid in full. Failure to do so leads to the deletion of your records and you will be required to register for the program all over again.

A learner’s permit is required for the in-car training, but you may begin the 30-hour classroom instruction without one.

The length of time you must hold your learner’s permit depends on your age and educational status. A Maryland learner’s permit is valid for two years, but before taking the road test for a provisional license, you must meet the following requirements:

• If you are under 18, or 18 without a high school diploma or GED, you must hold your learner’s permit for 9 months, and complete 60 hours of supervised driving practice (in addition to the 6 hours included in Driver’s Ed).
• If you are 18 with a diploma or GED, or between 19 and 24 years old, you must hold your permit for 3 months, and complete 60 hours of supervised practice.
• If you are 25 or older, you must hold your learner’s permit for 45 days, and complete 14 hours of supervised practice.
